How we rear our Hens

At Glenpark, Ti Kouka and Hillgrove we rear our own hens.

We receive the chicks when they are one day old. They are immediately placed in specialist rearing accommodation where their environmental, nutritional, health and welfare needs are carefully managed.

An extremely high level of bio-security is in place to ensure we maintain the high health status of our flocks.

We recognise that the growth and development of our hens is a vital part in helping to deliver a quality fresh egg, so we have put in place a programme of daily checks, monitored by trained competent staff. One thing we look for as they develop is their behaviour. Before they go to Glenpark, Ti Kouka or Hillgrove, we want to know they can move around, perch, jump and fly at different levels, and that they are healthy and strong and ready to go to their new home.
